Burning permits are required and open burning is regulated by the State of Michigan.
Permits may be obtained from Chief Rohlan (517-605-4158) or Brian Wilcox (517-605-2455).
For more information regarding the regulations of open burning in the state of Michigan, please contact the Environmental Assistance Center (EAC) at 800-662-9278 or go to the EGLE website at: www.michigan.gov/openburning
(Currently Palmyra Township only allows the burning of brush and leaves within the Township.)
You may purchase a dog license from the Palmyra Township Treasurer from December 1 through February for $10.
From March 1st through November, you may purchase a license from the Lenawee County Treasurer. The fee is $20. If you purchase a puppy or older dog in that time period, that fee is adjusted.
You must present a valid rabies certificate when purchasing a license. You can purchase a license during any tax collection day, by mail or by calling me to set up an appointment.
To purchase by mail, send $10 (cash or check payable to Palmyra Township), the rabies certificate and a self-addressed stamped envelope. I’ll return the license and rabies certificate to you.
Watch for details of our annual Rabies Vaccination and Dog License Clinic. This is usually held in the month of January, at the Community Room.
